at Lady Lawyer Foundation (LLF), Fall is in full, and December is here
Events, meetings, and initiatives in and around the last September 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA)(*) have influenced our Fall activities and choices.
La 72ma Sessione dell’Assemblea Generale delle Nazioni Unite, tenutasi lo scorso Settembre, con i suoi eventi, incontri e iniziative(*), ha suggestionato le nostre attività e scelte d’Autunno.

- September 17th, Equator Prize Award Ceremony;
- September 18th, Inaugural UN Global Compact CEO Roundtable;
- September 18th, United Nations Private Sector Forum 2017;
- September 18th, Business for the SDGs: Innovation, technology and connectivity for a better future for all,
an event by International Chamber of Commerce, GSMA, UN DESA, and Governments of Colombia and Indonesia;
- September 20th, Launch of Partnering for Green Growth and Global Goals 2030 P4G;
- September 20th, UN Global Compact Session on The Future of Humanitarian Response;
- September 21st, Leveraging Philanthropy for the 2030 Agenda: From Evidence to Action,
an event by OECD-DEV.netFWD with German and Mexican Missions to the United Nations;
- September 21st, UN Global Compact Health is Everyone’s Business Partner Workshop.)
On our way-back, we have decided to establish the Lawyering-As-Unusual Award (LAUA)(**), a €200K cash prize for responsible defiance within lawyering, addressed lawyers taking brave practice to challenge legal system to live up to its values and to its higher purpose, benefiting society.
Al nostro ritorno, abbiamo deciso di istituire il Premio Avvocato Straordinario(**), consistente nell’assegnazione di una somma di denaro di Euro 200.000,00, attribuita a chi, nell’esercizio dell’Avvocatura, si distingua nella sfida responsabile a che il sistema legale rispetti i suoi primi e fondamentali valori e scopi, a beneficio della comunità.
The idea of the Award is included in the advancement of the Call for a Lawyer Action To Submit Legal Practices Projects we launched last February:

On the occasion of UN Human Rights Day, the creation of the award is going to be announced next December 10th together with the presentation of the Blueprint of the projects selected as result of this Call.
La creazione del Premio sarà annunciata, in occasione della Giornata dei Diritti Umani delle Nazioni Unite, il prossimo 10 Dicembre, insieme con la presentazione del Blueprint dei progetti selezionati.

The idea of an Award addressed Defiance within Lawyering has been inspired by
the call to truly implement ‘business-as-unusual’ to create the world we want,
centering on the two special obligations lawyers have — to uphold the law and to work to assure the law is just, and
keeping both Business & Human Rights focus and Business & Gratuitousness challenge at the heart of our experience.
The development of the idea has faced the historical debate about
the legitimacy of civil disobedience as a legal concept,
the lawyer’s role in civil disobedience,
the law as a grand system transcending courts, judges, lawyers, and litigation,
the law as critical element in social change and laboratory for personal change.
In so doing, we have been animated also by the spirit of recent initiatives
other organizations have put in place aiming to give value to those who work for good ‘dis-obediently’.
Information about the award and nomination process will be available starting from next December 10th
